That’s right now you, yes YOU can complete at the IAAF world cross country Championships!
Recreational runners can now complete with the worlds best! Is this a joke?
Who’s stupid decision was this?
I personally am SHOCKED!

Right that's it I'm off to Mexico for some hot sauce, I'm taking on the best.
Crazy hey? Haha
It’s just crazy, what are the iaaf up to?
It's a good idea. The road is dominating athletics these days. Time to get people interested in XC and track again.
It is a great idea and I'm glad that someone is doing something to advance the sport!
For once there is something positive to say about the IAAF! They are at least trying to revive interest in what has become a fading event. For the event to recapture its past glories they need all countries to take it seriously and send the strongest possible team. If it continues to be a Kenya vs Ethiopia struggle with a few other Africans thrown in the rest of the world will continue to become less and less interested - which would be very sad indeed.
Provided it's not a short loop run several times, there should be no issue. It's like most road races.
...and some international cross country races. Like Atapuerca last week, just to name one.

I believe the rules require a looped course.
Let 50,000 fannypacked runners churn up that XC course THEN let the Pro race thru the rubble!

There are several races open to the public, most of which are run separately to the championship. However there is the possibility of running in the actual WC race, but there is a kicker. Applicants have to have run a 10K in 33 minutes and there is a cut off time for each lap. If you are over the cut off time you are pulled from the course. Also, there is a size limit for the course, 400 runners including the elites.
It seems like a good idea and worth trying. In 2017, 147 men took part in the senior championship. With the entry requirements it leaves spaces for about 250 additional runners.
Top 15 finishers qualify for the Doha 10000m.
Dream big. You could wake up that morning with a lot of energy.
And whats stopping the rest of the world from bringing their best tp take on the Kenyans and Ethiopians? They win a majority of distance track events and road races too, but the world seems interested in those.

NOBODY cares. Widespread acceptance off competitive running is meh; and many of its followers of the sport are as corny as amway salesmen

Agree, especially since so many countries now are not sending teams. If you're from a country that isn't sending a team you still can race.
Read the fine print. You need proof of a sub 33min 10k within the last year. And if lapped you will be removed from the race immediately.

To begin with, move the races back to every year, instead of every two years.
As someone in Denmark with a sub 33 10k I don't think I'll do this. 1000dkk (~150 USD) is ridiculous.

Ridiculously cheap in my mind. I think it sould cost $1,000.
How in the world can they let anyone do it? People will be getting lapped left and right.
At $150, I might do it and I haven't run in 3 months. I haven't run in 3 months. It might be fun. People bet when I'll get lapped and if I"ll be lapped twice or not. And we make it so that I'm not allowed to run at all between now and the race. A third bet would be whether my body would hold up and I'd even finish.
