but now we'll never know if Cam can really break 2:10 in a marathon since he needed special shoes
kind of makes the previous record much much more amazing than his effort, imagine how bad shoes were 40+ years ago (though I suspect doping testing was far worse in comparison back then)

Better disqualify all track records too. Those weren't run in leather shoes on a dirt track.
