Jakob has had his yearly threshold test. The new result is between 21-22 km/h.
Not bad to be 18y.

Not too surprising for a double European champion.
Dont think they have done the test now, they are still talking about the test they did, as always, in February.
This year the testers didnt manage to do the test correctly - cause he had not yet reached his threshold when they stopped...!

He's not African.
"Etter det TV 2 har forstått ligger terskelfarten til Ingebrigtsen mellom 21 og 22 km/t. I teorien kan altså Jakob Ingebrigtsen løpe en halvmaraton på under én time, og sette norsk rekord - uten å få melkesyre i beina."
In theory, Jakob Ingebrigtsen can(altsao?) run a half marathon under that time, set a Norwegian record --??
At the bottom, it says that the equivalent would be 34 second 200s 105 times. Taken literally, that is 59:30 half.
Interesting that you are comparing him to athletes and times ran at the height of the EPO era.

Also, not sure why he is being compared in his weakest event? He is world class already in the 1500. How many of these guys ever ran faster than him in the 1500? None?

Grejt is quite an amazing coach (albeit an ass of a father IMO) to say the least!
He's a great coach for the boys, no doubt. Are there other top athletes who do primarily LT training?

Or Isaac Songok.
Stupid to compare his 5000 meter times to others. First, because he is a 1500 meter runner and thats where his focus and training is.
Second because he has never run a 5000 meter where TIME was the goal, with a pace holder. he has only run a few (6-7 I think),
and always in a championship where medals was the goal. He would`ve been close to 13 min. this year, maybe better too, with the right field.
Agreed. JI will be the best 5000m runner of the three brothers.
On the other hand, threshold tests are outdated and simplistic thinking.
Nebulous at best, moronic at worst.
Aside from the conceptual shortcomings, protocol influences especially, the 'threshold' is always arbitrarily defined and always ignores the non-steady state slow component in VO2 kinetics. A threshold parameter can be measured as slower but racing performance still improved. Moreover, there is the inadvertent assist in treadmill running at high speeds, especially under the optimal testing conditions, to minimize heat build-up.
Certainly, Mills, Keino, Moorcroft, McChesney, Musyoki, Gebresalassie and Lagat trained quality, as many top endurance athletes prefer running faster to slower.

You’re missing a few from Brussels this year. Barega (18), Kejelcha (21), and Gebrihiwet’s (24) faster time.

Jacob has been training like a pro for 10 years now. The point still stands that he is going to hit his fastest times in the next year or two if he hasn't already. You don't train like he has and peak at the shorter races 20 years in to serious training. It is time to stop using his age as a crutch about his upside.

Ummm...ever hear of mo Farah? Went from 3:38 at 22 to 3:34 at 26 to 3:28 as a 30 year old. 3:28 after training professional for almost 10 years. That's nothing short of a miracle.

If Africans are universally overaged like some people claim, then Gebrselassie likely ran a 2:03:59 at 40+, and Kipchoge is probably nearing 40 as well.
