VO2 max is a function of the rate you can pump blood, thus resting and max heart rates are a better predictor of max oxygen consumption than 1.5 mile running speed, which varies wildly by running economy. I understand your point now, but heart rate is still a small factor overall. Heart rate doesn't matter if one has a trash stroke volume and arteriovenous O2 difference.
Basically any estimate one records is exactly that--an estimate. Some are better than others for certain groups, but if OP is really concerned about what his VO2 is, he should just go to a lab and get it definitively measured.

Potentially an incorrectly executed test, but more likely fantastic running economy and an amazing lactate threshold (LT is a better indicator of endurance performance, especially for the marathon)

Also, fantastic fatigue resistance and that intangible mental factor.
Running is not simply a factor of how much oxygen a person can consume
