So all these Boston qualifying threads have me thinking about whether moms pushing baby strollers on net downhill marathons have an unfair advantage over someone without a baby stroller. The extra mass of a baby stroller is obviously a big advantage if we just consider basic potential energy - kinetic energy equations from high school. The mom would essentially be free wheeling her legs on much of a downhill marathon course with the baby stroller pulling her along from the extra gravity assist.
I wager a baby stroller mom on a downhill course could embarrass most of the men on these boards. I think marathon courses with a large net elevation drop should be considered non Boston qualifier courses. And baby strollers should also be banned for qualifying times. It's the only sensible and fair thing to do. Others, I'm going to put heavy bags of concrete in a baby stroller and rub a sub-3 marathon downhill.
