Yes just not a lot of incentive. Age 18-39 is still peak and no age grading should apply. M40 100 WR is 9.93 that is about the same performance as a 44.5 for a 40 year old in the 400. 44.54 has been run by a 36 year old. (2015).
49.37 by a 37 year old is still pretty darn fast though. Will be interesting to see how he does in about 3 years.
M40 400 WR was broken last year. 46.96.
The record was 47.87 37 years ago so the needle hasn't moved much.
