UNLV lost to Div. II Alaska Anchorage at its home invite. UAA defeated UNLV 26-57 and UAA had the top two women in the race.
In the article on its athletic's website, UNLV doesn't even mention that they lost to UAA but noted that they won the D I title. They even gave themselves a trophy (for finishing second in a meet that only had six teams).
Thankfully the NCAA changed the rules and new this year the results can not be separated by division.

Those are some slow times. I assume it was a hard course.

You assume wrong; the times were slow because UNLV is S-L-O-W.
Check the results from the conference T&F championships and see how many scored points came from the distance (the correct answer is ZERO). -
Wow that’s a slow meet

Why are women XC runners slow even at a collegiate level

There are some more faster college races, this is just not one of them. There are turkey trots that are more competitive. -
Not all women XC runners are slow at the collegiate level, just this particular school.

They’re in the middle of high mileage, haven’t started intervals yet, and tempo’d the race. -
If written by an SID or the coach, a piece like this makes perfect sense. They want to show the school / program in a positive light, no matter how hard they have to look for a silver lining.
Regardless, that is funny. -
Looking at the results...... Is it common for collegiate teams to recruit a bunch of kenyans?

Shout out to the girl who just gives a thumbs up in the photo and the girl beside her who doesn't even seem to know/care what is going on. Y'all are wonderful.

Most of the rest of them are saying they are number 1 so it must be true.

Alaska Anchorage's roster is typically filled with Kenyan born runners. Nothing new here. They were doing it before it was cool. -
UNLV finished far behind at least one D3 team at Riverside about a week ago (6k race).

First of all, do you have any basis for believing they're on scholarship? Second, why in the world would you care if they were?
I just don't understand grumbling about the prospect of women having their education and sport subsidized by football revenue. It isn't obvious to me why that would be wrong. Maybe Thank you football can illuminate us on this. Probably not though. -

Its male competitiveness subsidizing women again. Like everywhere in life really. It would be ok If colleges would be fair and Not preach openly to discriminate against men. -
