Jordan Hasay pulls OUT of the 2018 BOA Chicago Marathon with injury

Men’s Field: Paul Lonyangata (KEN) will not be competing. Added to the field is Luke Puskedra (USA), 2015 top American Bank of America Chicago Marathon finisher.

This should surprise zero people.

Glad to see Puskedra hopping in, though.

There's been a guy posting that Hasay will DNS for months. This guy started a thread back in August saying she was hurt.

And FYI for those saying we should have followed up on it -- I asked her agent Ricky Simms whether she was injured when she scratched from the Copenhagen Half last week. All he said was "Jordan was going to join him in Europe but will just run a hard effort in training at home instead."

The only surprising thing about this is how soon Salazar announced it. Rupp is indeed next and yes, it is due in great part to those ridiculous shoes.

Well, she had a nice career. Looks like Salazar has ruined another young female talent. Hope she saved her pennies.

its the reality that ruppy poop and hasay cant hang with the big dogs

rupps ten miler was worth a 2:08-09....that isnt going to cut it. mo is going to be top 3 with a 2:04-5....rupp will run a 2:08 and be 5-8th place. this isnt good for nike, al sal, rupp and the american public.

rupp needs to start...a DNS will be very bad for his already terrible media pulling ability. i still predict he starts, goes with the main group for 15k then drops out, and they will already have his injury excuse ready to go.

If kipchoge is healthy, no one on earth can beat him. so he screwed more than al sals hopes ff 2020 if he's still around.

So, in your opinion, does anyone who doesn't have a shot at gold in 2020 retire and pack it in? Is it guaranteed Kipchoge will be healthy in 2020?

Runners can keep training and chasing their goals etc. Most of us on this site run a lot more than is normal or perhaps even healthy chasing our own incredibly modest goals, but we don't stop because some elite is slated to show up at the race we are training for.

I'm never going to make it to the Olympics, should I stop running?

Not the company gotta find a shoe that works. If I ran in the zoom fly id be hurt but it doesnt fit me. Thats on me for sticking with it and getting hurt not Nike.

Yea those ridiculous shoes have really been a hindrance to Eliud Kipchoge too.

Ditto, Nike were life-savers for me after years hobbling around in Asics.

But I'd switch to a new brand tomorrow if that shoe felt better. Meanwhile letsrunners pick sides and actively cheer for certain brands to fail. This misplaced loyalty is insane to me. It's a shoe, not a political party.

To be fair I started a thread in July stating she had a stress fx and my thread was deleted.

Whish I could bump it right about now...

They knew well before Boston she had a stress rx let the poor girl try and train on it until it broke. Salazar is nothing but a reckless fool that should not be trusted with anyone's health and safety.

You mean the same shoes that Kipchoge wore to a world record yesterday and does almost all of his training in?

Not eating enough increases one chance of fractures.

Really disappointing. This injury seems to be lingering - not good at all. She may never approach 2:20 again.

The Vaporfly IS an evil shoe. EK is an outlier, there are always outliers. In general, though, the Vaporfly is a very fast shoe that lets you fly real close to the sun, and we know how that ends.

Heck, I got injured EVERY time I wore air shoes that were not the Mariah back in the day, EVERY time. It's only been the last ten years or so that I can wear anything Nike air. And really, with Boost, what's the point? I wonder what time Adola will turn next month, in Boosts?
