What is the relation between poor typing skills and posting on Letsrun?
I dont know Mr sigh Shakespeare
dropping the height of your shoe will put a lot more stres in the whole complex in the back of your leg. you can't take it too carefully. if you feel your acilles is getting irritated, just walk around in the lower profile shoes until it calms down. I went through the same thing and now I run full time in xc flats and h streets.

I ran my first track session in h-streets this week (8-300's). Plus a few miles warmup/warmdown on the street. I've been wearing a combination of flats and trainers for the last several months, and I'm working toward all flats and h-streets. I haven't had injuries, but there is definitely more stress with lower heels. However, my lower legs are much stronger and I'm running smoother and faster because of the lower shoes.
BTW, I'm 60, so if I can do it...
Like everything else, you need to first get used to the new stress gradually. While I would not recommend moving straight into minimalist shoes from "ordinally" training shoes suddenly, I would seriously suggest you give it a try. You can start walking in them first; stretch your Achilles by doing heel raiser on the step, etc.; then jog in minimalist shoes on an easy day, something like that.
I had suffered from chronic Achiles tendonitis for 5 years. Nothing worked; PT, massage, rest, extra padding... Then I switched (or rather, decided to "walk the talk" thanks to HRE) completely to minimalist shoes. I can't explain anything scientific but all I can say is now for the first time in 5 years, I can run pain-free and in fact a bump in my Achiles tendon is considerably smaller.
thanks nobby, trackhead and purple, i think that made the transition too fast
PAIN, especially when you get up on the morning.
its really painful when you get out of bed
I know, BELIEVE me. It wears off a bit after I go for a mile or two but walking down a flight of stairs first thing in the AM is a challenge.
