4 X Mile with 1 slow-jog lap rest. Can turn out to be close to per-lap race pace at those distances.
Try 16x 400 w/ 40 seconds rest. 400m time in this workout is generally pretty close to 3000m pace. Lots of other factors, though.
If I ran a 6x800 w/ 2 min recovery in 2:23 avg, does it bode well for being able to go sub 9 in the 3000? This is while having done 43 miles over the previous 3 days (a helluva lot for me, never gone over 70 in a week).
In the 4 x mile, is it the average of the 400 pace for all?
Seems to me the avg 400 pace should be just about 1/4 of the avg per mile pace...well maybe not pace but time. Pace should be the same, right?
Also I'd think that with the jog recovery (and not being in a race situation), that 4x1 workout would be more like 5k pace than 3k pace.
