Has there ever been a great 800m runner who was also elite in the 400m hurdles (or vice versa)?

Harald Schmid and Dave Patrick

Brandon Johnson
Only 400m hurdler that comes to my mind with a decent 800m time is Edwin Moses. Which if I recall right he had like a sub 1:50 800m time.
Harald Schmit went 1:44. Found that out by looking up Edwin Moses, who ran 1:48, still a good result. If he focused more on the 800 he may have run closer to that.
Kostetskaya alas was a doper, but won World Junior 400h and later ran some great 800m races.
Kriss Akabusi 47.82 / 1.48.2
Brian Whittle 50.91 / 1.45.47

David Patrick ran 47.75 and 1:44.70 .
He was US champion at 800m in 1983.
Brandon Johnson 48.59/1:43.84
Joey Woody. Ncaa champ in 400 hurdles and was part of world record 4x8. Probably not that unusual though to have people with ability to do both. They just usually focus on one. Throw Amos or Saruni in a few 400 hurdle workouts and they probably run 48.
