Guessing he made less than $1M during his running career. His wife has done OK and they seem to have some net worth since they can buy a business. I will go with......current net worth $850K.

His contract was 15 years ago. Remember when baseball players were making $500k instead of $10M? Webb only made $150k per year. No way he is worth over $1M.

He could be if he invested portions of it, but most young people don’t know how to invest in stocks and real estate so no way of knowing his net worth.

Chinese takeout and video games are not that expensive. Massage treatments can get a little expensive though.

In addition to his base salary from Nike (+ coaching, college costs, equipment, travel, insurance), he got performance bonuses (times, national teams (track and xc), records, etc), appearance and speaking fees, product endorsement deals, race purses...

The IAAF is considering wiping out ALL Records set before 2005, if that happens Alan Webb would be the new World Record holder, and I would think that would greatly increase his net worth being an American World Record Holder in a prestigious event as the Mile is (Though rarely run) Webb would be saying Hicham El G who? I guess according to you that would mean he has 1.5 million.

Figure taxes and agent would eat half of that. He also had expenses all six of those years. Most people would not be able to have one year salary saved after six years.

Net worth, not sure. But he had a clause in his Nike contract that if he broke the AR in the mile, then he would receive $100,000 annually for life.

The book "Sub-4: Alan Webb ..." by Chris Lear gave some basic details of the pro contract he signed with Nike after leaving the University of Michigan. 250k/year for 6 years sounds correct. I'm sure there was a bonus for making the 2004 Olympic team. Hopefully he got some bonus/prize money for winning the Paris Diamond League meet in addition to other appearance fees, etc. His dad is an economist. He later finished his degree in economics. I'm sure he's been responsible with his money.

He desperately started a truck repair business followed by online coaching. Web is likely almost collecting cans and bottles at this point.

Sounds crazy. What if record was broken the following year? Even if broken today, youngsters will never know who he is. I doubt that Houlihan and Frerichs will get that type of money.

Its never about how much you made, never will be. Its about how much you kept and invested over the long haul.

Like anybody with any career you hope to cost average it over a lifetime, jobs change, income changes, you plan for the end game not half way to the finish line.
