Cograts to the Farm Team who once again looked very good indoors. This was a huge mistake last year and will probably be again this year. Everyone talks about base during this time of the year but very few do it. Last year Lunn was dominant at the indoor mile but could only manage a 5th place 3:41.96 outdoors. Stember was going to focus on the 800 (more spped less base) too become a better miler. The experiment failed miserably. Huffman ran 3:59 at indoor nationals last year and could only manage a 3:45.73 at outdoor nationals and didn't advance. Griffen and Macfalls both looked good indoors and couldn't advance to finals as well outdoors. It took 3:44.03 to advance.
They all looked horrible at World Cross Trials (during the middle of base stage) but looked great indoor. It is easy to look good indoor when everyone else is focusing on outdoor.
