I proudly wear my Boston Marathon jacket that I picked up at TJ Maxx on clearance for $12.99. Love it when the "Boston is the One True Marathon" people get all pissy because, when asked, I respond that "Oh, I've never run it".

I literally love to wear my college tops around when I'm out alot. It is a good conversation starter for meeting people. They also will think I'm very clever because wearing the top proves you must have literally went to college. Sometimes I wear it, approaching girls. Straight away they will take me more seriously when they know I'm not some bum which flunked my SAT's. Many people always look at me when I'm wearing them so I obviously stand out as better then another random douche which didn't have the brains to get a degree. You wouldn't see them going around with the words Oxford or Literature Science written on there back.
I went to a state college... and I work for the same state college I got my degree at... So I am quite proud to wear their stuff. They got me great jobs, and pay my bills. So why not do a little free advertising for them?

I like to sport my TRAILER PARK shirt. Goes with the times we live in.
Who are you, the t shirt police?
Yea, so I have been generally the same size since age 12, so I have tons of out dated t shirts. It really is kind of silly to justify spending money on clothing that I'm going to sweat in and will develop a permanent odor. Even applies to non running t shirts mostly because dudes stop caring about fashion as they age.
I like to show all of you others what losers you are for not being able to get into my colleges.

In no particular order:
- "Pride"
- Immodesty
- Reminder of good times
- Like the colors/designs
I'm some combination of these..... Go Blue.
+1 and Go Blue!
Proud of what I did in college

I don’t get it. Are they that proud of where they went for college? Or just want to show off?
I wear them for College's I never attended because it upsets people like you and gives me satisfaction.

I think generally people are done buying t-shirts by the time they graduate college. Whatever you’ve acquired at that point is your t-shirt inventory for the rest of your life.
Totally agree with this post.
True. My Ts are 20 - 40 years old while I was still running. And when I went to school was before it was a marketing thing to put it on a T.
Though I do have a More Cow Bell T that I wear. Its likely years old. If you never wash them, they never wear out
I find it even more funny when people donate money to their "alumni association."
You've paid tens of thousands of dollars (or more) to the school, yet they keep asking for money.
If you can't keep your expenses in line, stop spending money on new buildings, sports centers etc. Your business model shouldn't rely on donations to stay afloat.

The college I went to has some of the best facilities in the nation for nearly anything you can think of. A lot of that is due to alumni donations and pride.
Nothing wrong with wanting your school to be at the top and have the best.
Why do you care so much what people put on their cars?

If you think that's bad, you wouldn't believe the discrimination you get for having truck nutz. I guess some people just lash out because they're intimidated.

I was surprised to see a nearly 10 year old photo of myself wearing one my favorite shirts. Didn't realized I'd had it that long. It gets washed a few times a year.... but never put in the dryer.
On a side note, our athletic department chose "THERE IS NO FINISH LINE" as their slogan one year and passed out T-shirts with this printed in bold letters. As an XC runner I found it horribly demotivating. When I realize it's my only clean shirt left, I curse them and debate wearing a baby-spit-up stained shirt instead.
If you can’t give a 50 year old man in an orange Clemson t-shirt a hard time, who can you hassle?
All of the other social groups have hashtags and liberal media backing.
Homeboy, if you're cruising around Breck in the summer none of those people live in Colorado. It's just a bunch or tourists wearing the same clothes they would be wearing around their hometown. The people who really stick out in mountain towns are the ones who attempt to "fit in". Most people can't afford mountain town rent and head to toe patagonia apparel. Texas sucks, everyone in the mountains can't stand "ya'll", find somewhere else to vacation and be judgemental

I mean why do people wear nike or adidas T-Shirts? You can get a perfectly good t-shirt for a fraction of the price at hanes/fruit of the loom. Status symbol, albeit a minor one.
The way I would rationalize buying/wearing a college T-shirt is pointing out that a fraction of the proceeds go to the institution which supports research/education funding and in-turn society. This is unlike buying a nike or adidas t-shirt where the only people who benefit are the shareholders.
Don't be a boob. If you got your undergraduate or masters from that school, You have worked there, than it is OK to wear their clothing...especially during holidays and summers.
