Doug soles greatest coach of all time?

Pass. I don't want any of those fast CA kids. All they do is run and run fast - who needs that in their program? There is no room for improvement at the next level. Give me one of those slow kids from the midwest and I will have him running these same times in three years. That's coaching!

My list - Consistency ways heavy.

1 - Bill Aris - Manlius

2 - Joe Newton - York

3 - Dan Green - The Woodlands

4 - Ken Reeves - Nordhoff

5 - Rene Paragas - Saugus

6 - Art and Linda Kranick - Saratoga

If GO sweeps the CA states for the 5th year in a row in 2018 I would say Soles passes both Reeves and Paragas and maybe Green, but not until then. Who am I missing?

Thanks for getting back to the question of is Doug the best. He’s probably the top 3 for sure. Watching his program and the drive he puts in his kids is nothing short of miraculous. Amazing he’s been doing this for so long and hasn’t quit.

One reason why kids dont improve in college is there is a lot of coaching turnover in college, and there is also a lot of bad coaches in college who couldn't coach themselves out of a paper bag but held a stopwatch at a P5 school one time and put that on their resume.

Most kids do improve in college, just not kids from Great Oak. Bummer bro.

Why do kids choose to run for him if they could run for better coaches who will give them a better chance to improve in college?

How do the rest of the athletes in Great Oaks league do when they graduate? Is the percentage better than GO? Are other coaches kids finding better success than his are? How do the rest of the athletes do in the section at the next level? Is this a GO issue or a socal issue? I think that would be interesting to look at. If the other teams coaches are having the same performance levels from their grads as Soles is perceived to have, is that a GO issue or socal issue? Maybe the socal kids are all just soft.

Most kids quit during or after freshman year after they realize the college running life isn't for them. So no, most kids don't improve in college, especially females.

So you are trying to tell us that most everyone who joins a collegiate distance team in college quits by the end of their first year? Are you sure about that? I think that might be incorrect.

Maybe define 'most' for us.

Now it is true that most kids who run in HS don't run in college but that's not what you wrote here.

The Hunters are great coaches too. Before they started coaching at Loudoun Valley, LV’s A team finished in the bottom half in many races. Now they are #1 in the nation.

Their current B team is a lot better than the A teams Loudoun Valley had before the Hunters started coaching there.

2 of his top girls posted yesterday that they ran 15 miles. One at 7 min pace and the other at sub 7 min pace.

Sure he doesn't burn them out?
