This may have already made the rounds, but yesterday I got around to reading the book review in The Atlantic on Scott Jurek (and others), which I think is relevant for the discussion on sports psychology.
The argument of the reviewer seems to be that these sorts of tales are interesting precisely because they’re terrible advice for most of us, but a lack of introspection may be necessary to accomplish extreme efforts. I think there’s wisdom in “this is who I am and this is what I do”, in response to “why do this,” and we tend to overthink things.
