It seems like the NCAA Outdoor Champs schedule was put together for efficiency without the athletes in mind. They blocked out four days for finals. Why not spread out the events more and run men and women on the same day?
Having all the finals on the same day makes doubling for sprinters difficult, especially if they are running the relays. Doubling in any distance event is difficult, due to all the events being on the same day. The only distance double that seems doable is 5k/10k, while 800/1500 and a 1500/5000 double is basically rendered impossible by the schedule. All of this reduces the chances for the best runners facing each other.
The 10k should not be run at Regionals. Just qualify the fastest runners for the final meet. Distance runners that want to do the 5k/10k double have to run both those races twice within two weeks, which is just stupid overkill.
Speaking of Regionals, the amount of rounds is ridiculous, especially for the best athletes whose times are a level above the rest. Just give the Top 8 or 12 a pass the final meet. Regionals should be for the rest of the qualifiers to make it on place.
Anything else?
