Allen - The short answer is yes I went out again into the heat to get 60 for the week, but I was also dissatisfied with the 9.5 this morning. It just did not sit well with me, getting in only 9.5 for a Saturday long-ish run.
I may get into hot water here with the trolls (or troll?) by continuing on, responding to your remarks, but oh well they/he will have to suffer a second paragraph. Thanks for the pointers—yes, shade and hydration are important. In regard to my part deux effort today, I would say it went well...5.14 at 6:34 overall, in bright 86 + 69 = 155 conditions, with rumbles of thunder...true afternoon summer weather. I believe I went 7:03, 6:43, 6:26, 6:24, 6:18. Yes, I will rest tomorrow as usual. What I find most interestng, though, is that second run seems to have wiped out the drained/dehydrated feeling I often get from summer runs. In fact, I was able to take three of my daughters to the 3:10 showing of the new Star Wars movie. In order to make that showing, I had to run at the height of the heat. So, I am glad I did. Instead of feeling drained, I ended up feeling a good runner’s high while watchng the movie.
Sounds like you had a nice hill workout—congrats. Was it hot in your neck of the woods? All the best, my friend.
