Wow, kid visited Harvard last winter, watched him run 6 x 600 (indoors)in 1:30, so smooth.

But are you sure?

In his last triathlon (in March), which was only an ETU race, he finished 6th and only had the second fastest 5k time (14:34).

Maybe he forgot to run one (or two) laps.

Quite a big PR for 29 year old Ringer too (29 second PB). His best before today was 28:05.9.

Seems fishy...

100% sure I just watched it along with thousands of others

I think I heard somewhere that he was going to UNM. Can anybody confirm?

The guy has a European bronze medal over 5000m (silver if you count Fifa winning gold) and a PB of 13:10. Why shouldn't he be able to run 27:36?

last year he ran 13.37 for 5k - aged 19

Ok, he did it.

He probably will be unbeatable in the triathlon in a couple of years.

No it doesn't

I was just reading a thread here recently where someone stated that when a runner realizes he can't be competitive on the track he or she will go on to something like the triathlon. There goes that theory.

You max out with running. Do too much and you're injured. On the bike, you can train forever. Frank Shorter took up cycling later in life and said he wishes he did more earlier.

But 27.51 at 20 and not focusing on running? Zatopek barely broke 30 after training his arse off for years. How is that development even possible?
