I'm proud of the dead children. They died so that white people all over the nation get to keep their guns. They died for our Constitution, for our FREEDOM!!!

"But it’s plainly dishonest to state, as CNN does, that there have been 22 “school shootings” this year. When you remove those on the list that don’t fulfill the typical definition, the number is more like seven. Seven is awful. 22 is blatant misreporting. But CNN has an agenda, and they won't let facts get in the way."

This is really what is at the heart of so many of these shootings. For kids who do not fit in, high school can be hell. Add social media and easily accessible guns to the equation and you get what we have today.
HUH? This nation has really touched bottom when being "called names" is a reasonable motive for the death of eight humans. At my recent high School reunion, nobody recognized each other so they simply reminded others of their nicknames and believe me, none of them were flattering.

It isn't reasonable, but it is why this is happening. Social media + guns + being an outcast/mentally ill/bullied etc. = school shooter. Social media really amplifies all the issues teens face in high school. When I was a kid, the bullying at my school was horrific and the social order was awful for anyone who was not part of the popular crowd. But when you went home, it was over. Now, kids go home and it has just begun as they savage each other on social media 24/7. And kids who are ostracized can find plenty of really dark stuff on the internet and set up an online personal as the scary kid to try to feel like they have some power over their circumstances. Then, it is easy to find guns from family or friends or buy them on the black market and go on a shooting spree.

I'll take the broader view that shootings on school campus, for whatever reason they occur, need to stop.
You can have your own requirement.
my thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. I'm so sorry we cannot do anything to prevent these horrific incidents. these kids are heroes. they died for our values. guns and freedom.

CNN broadened the definition of a school shooting to demonstrate how much gun violence there is around schools. If you define it narrowly to basically be a Parkland type shooter, you exclude the gun violence that goes on around schools in bad neighborhoods and make the gun violence problem a white suburban issue.

Wow! Your satire, unlike mine, is so spot on and captures the essence of GOP members that you might be mistaken for Jonathan Swift.

Yeah, come on. 22? That's way too much. 7 school shootings is just about the accepted amount.
Quick! Let's do something ... anything ... even if it's wrong!

Did you notice that whooshing sound? Probably not.
I'm surprised by how many of the shootings are in college dorms. Bottom line is that there are many more mass shootings and shootings in general in the U.S. and its schools than anywhere else in industrialized countries, and the availability of guns and ammunition is a prime cause. At the very least, our legislators should follow reasoned public sentiment and institute universal background checks, mental health checks, limits on magazine size and semi-automatics, higher age limits, gun safety locks, etc.

You need to make it super tough to acquire a firearm. And then it should be single fire and low velocity. It’s not hard. It’s actaully really easy.
Morans.
Great idea. You just wait until your government controlled military is knocking at your door with better weapons because you couldn't buy one legally to protect yourself.
Right Wing,
If the US gov were to become tyrannical, as gun nuts rabidly and obsessively fear, it likely wouldn't have the military for its use. The military defends the constitution, not individuals in the government. But if you've ever served a day in your life you would already know this.

They won't.

Oh...ok. My apologies. Your statement is typical of right wing. . Didn't detect the sarcasm.
Ho hum diddle dum, another mass shooting in the good ol' US of A which is off the front page of LR already, la de da da la de da.

I'll say this once again - the answer is MAGNETICS. Giant magnets in the flooring of the corridors, so that when the nut-job shows up someone throws a switch and the weapon is instantly pulled to the ground, unusable. THE END OF SCHOOL SHOOTING. PERMANENTLY.
mmm, interesting idea - is this really feasible though? How powerful would any magnet need to be in order to attract the weight of a gun?
