He was only .5 behind Kszczot but then again I doubt A.K. is anywhere near top form yet. He's likely targeting some hot performances mid-season, and Euro Champs.

This is Kszczot's philosophy as far as targeting certain yearly performances:

“Take a closer look at how good I have prepared for the main events,” he said. “The training programme is tailored to the main event. Rarely are there good, fast races after the main event and most of the athletes are then out of shape anyway. All of the best races are at the beginning of the season; I’m not adjusting to be in high shape two months before and keep it for a long time.

“The main thing is to be good at the right moment. Everything is preparing for medals, for the main events.”

A lotof people aren’t aware that Murphy is coming off knee surgery. Nothing major but enough to slow down his progress for a bit. That said he needs to get away from the slowpoke high mileage Nike crap and stick with a higher volume of speed based training. Murphy is an 800/1500 guy with great speed, not decent speed. Guys like that need more work on the teuck.

Good chance Murphy and AK were the two first drug free guys across the line.

Pace wasn't that slow. He's not in great speed shape or aerobic shape. But he was in the middle of the race with very good competition, so this is just fine and he probably will run 1:45 in another month or so. I'm not really optimistic about this year for him or his current group, however. When you run 1:42.93 and have improved around ten seconds with that coach in four years, I don't think you ought to mess with it.

This is for whoever has no ide what the splits are. He went 54.3 through 400 and if you watched the race was boxed in entire time. Would be surprised if he runs much better in his next race

He was clearly boxed in going into the bend, and had to slow down to prevent from getting tripped. H accelerated down the straight, but it was clearly too late.

Had he been positioned properly, he would have had a chance to win the race.

Murphy was indeed hurt at the Nationals by trying that double in the extreme heat. Eventually he decided to just have the surgery. He'll be fine and back to form well in time for Tokyo. People need to relax. All of the Murphy haters here (same bunch who hate Rupp and dislike Centro) are guys who can't even run a sub 5 1500. But that's life at kuk central on LR.

It's early May, lets see what he does in July-September, Think Monaco, Zurich, Brussels Meets like that are when everyone will be peaked and running fast times.

Is he allowed to travel?
