Yeah sure Rupp had an asthma attack. That's not what it looked like when he tried to respond to Yuki's break and was easily dropped. He was utterly demoralized and went home devastated.
Um, no.

a.k.a “racing”. Are some of you so jealous/ hateful that you will even criticize him for racing? Good Lord, people...
NOPe, it is called cowardice.[/quote]
It takes more courage to put yourself out there and go for it. Than to stay at home and post in an anonymous forum. Thats what Rupp has done for the last 10 years. Time and time again, hes raced people better than him. That is NOT cowardice. That shows he competes.

Did anyone read this? It states specifically it was done on the track and the road. He probably bounced back on the track at the end to finish, or periodically came back to dial in his pace if he wasn't trusting his gps. This is like a 2:35 guy doing 20-22 miles at 6:40 pace and 1 mile at 10k. Doesn't seem outlandish. But, 9 days out is close. I think he probably took it super easy after boston dropout with plans for just this one big workout before prague. Meaning, he's going into this tapered after lots of rest, and is following it with rest and a taper.
If you think this was the only 'workout' between Boston and Praugue then you don't know NOP very well.

as he'd be (even more of) a laughing stock. So he's got this in the locker as a ready made excuse...
It’s stupid comments like this that make ME laugh. Trying to belittle a man who has an Olympic silver AND bronze medal on his resume, in addition to a WMM win (blah, blah, Chicago is watered down, filled with B-team 2:05 Kenyans... save your jibberish for a different thread).
Rupp is laughing all the way to the bank. He has played his career well, getting paid 10 times what he would elsewhere. I don’t even like him, but at least I can objectively look at his list of accomplishments and admit that it is impressive.

This is such an asinine post and it makes me wonder why you felt motivated to think of it and then follow through with posting.
Malmo stated some facts, not opinions, of his own experience and related them to the subject matter. You interpret that as making fun of others because... Oh never mind.
Here's what I think will help you; stop what you're doing, go to the mirror, breath deeply while staring at your reflection. And you may ask yourself, "Well...how did I get here?"
Oops, hit submit by accident... anyway, was going to say that any thread that has references/ quotes from The Princess Bride and Talking Heads is cool beans.
This workout also reminds me of a late 80s/early 90s Boston when one of the top Ethiopians reportedly ran an easy 20 miler on the course the Thursday before. If memory serves he ended up second and that is why I remember it because I debated it with a friend... was it the reason he lost, or was it the reason for his success ( in my mind coming second at Boston would be a measure of success, unless you don’t like Rupp).
Go Raptors!

Watched NBC's coverage of London. Great coverage.

a. What was Mo Farah saying to the motorcyle support at about 33 mintues
into the race.
b. Out of all the races I've seen?
Rupp should have been in this race, it would've been a great duel with Mo, oh well.
That would have been a blowout, not a duel.
Rupp loses to Farah in any race from 50m to marathon. Maybe Rupp could beat Farah in a 50-mile ultra?
(I mean physiologically he could, but of course he would DNF though. You just can’t become a champion with Rupp’s soft unbringing and soft approach to competition.)
If Rupp runs anywhere near 2:06:30 on a tougher Prague course in the same temperatures that existed in London a couple of weeks ago, then Rupp is clearly head and shoulders above Farah. That is if there are good pacers..like they use in London.
