I am turning 33 in a few weeks, and I always seem to get weird looks or judgemental comments when people find out that I have never been in a serious relationship and have no interest in a wife and kids. Single people are a rarity in my workplace (I'm an IT guy for a local government).
I live in a suburb of a city that is considered to be filled with coastal liberal elites. Definitely not flyover country or the Bible Belt.
So I'm just wondering, how common/uncommon is my lifestyle? Is it really that odd to be single in your early 30s with no interest in finding a long term partner?
Dude, I'm in my late 30s, dated a lot, but only had two serious relationships (1st in my early 20s, only lasted 3 years; 2nd in my late 20s-early 30s, lasted 5 years) and have never wanted marriage or kids. For what it's worth, in the first relationship, she wanted marriage & kids and in the second she didn't. I haven't dated much since the LTR ended, but I haven't been looking either. If you want a relationship, go out and get one. If not, stop posting on anonymous message boards asking strangers to validate your life.
Only you can validate yourself and your decisions; stop seeking approval from people you don't know and don't care about.
How's your running coming?
