Sounds fair to me wrote:
Observers in this election reported widespread cases of ballot stuffing and voters coerced by their employers to cast ballots.
Which observers? All of them? Or specific ones not named or referenced?
"Widespread" is weasel language for spinning "sporadic" into "massive." 20 instances around the country can be "widespread."
When a news source resorts to this type of rhetoric right off the bat, without a serious or methodical analysis of the claims, and treating anecdote as fact, it should be disregarded.
wejo wrote:The thing that bugs me is how the Western media plays into the idea that these are free and fair elections. Some days the thinness of your worldliness floors me. What media do you read that pretends Russian (and other similar) "elections" are anything of the sort? Is it Fox news or Breitbart or something? I imagine you've read also that the Chinese people were delighted to bestow presidency for life. And the Philippines has free and fair elections. My gawd wee-joe, you need to get out more.
Russia is a mob state with oligarchs at the head. The leader cut his teeth laundering money for the Cali drug cartel and got dirt on all of his rivals through his connections gained working in the KGB. As long as he keeps the oligarchs happy, he remains in power.
I've not encountered a single article in many years that suggested that Russian elections were in any way fair.
They are a farce.
The earliest known tribe with total Freedom and Democracy is the Hanza Tribe of the Rift Valley in Tanzania which has been around for over 100,000 years and is still today a completely Democratic tribe with equality and human rights for all. Unfortunately Russia, China, Jordan, Israel, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, and so on, are Mafia dictatorships that have not developed a democracy with full voting rights and independent elections.
Yes, we have fair elections. How else would some of these nut jobs we have in office get there?
Second, we have the biggest and best economy in the world. People do get very rich here legally (see Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and yes, Mark Zuckerberg). In Russia the oligarchs stole their money.
Third, we jail big time criminals like drug dealers such as El Chapo. In Russia, they become part of Putin's crime ring.
I can share more but what is the difference since this is just going to be read by Ivanski Trolls.
The question Wejo asks should be asked of the current US President and his Press Secretary since they both seem to think along the lines Wejo's question goes down.
It's the president and not the "West and the media" who is pretending that the Russian elections are fair.

I called Vladimir to congratulate him on his tremendous victory. It seems like he went old school and used ballot stuffing in some places. I'm going to use that in 2020! Believe me.
I haven't read all the responses, but I don't know of a single person or media outlet who thinks the Russian elections were fair.

Brah, Bad Wiggins is the local Russia-Phile who has a Yuge hard-on for Putin. He’s posted on this thread and uses the FSB sanctioned whataboutism method of discourse constantly.
He absolutely thinks the Russian elections are fair.
