I'm a high school senior attending cornell next year. i had talked to rojo back in the fall about walking on at cornell and he told me that i needed a 1:55 in the 800 to be able to get a spot on the team. during indoor i trained my ass off and ended up with a 1:25 in the 600 and a 1:58 in the 800, but ended up getting injured right after the end of the season, and ive had to miss much of outdoor. im coming back now and ive been running in the 159-200 range for the eight and am not going to be hitting that 1:55 this season. i plan on getting some quality milage in during the summer, but i dont know if ill be able to be fast enough to make it on to the cornell team come next winter. my question is if i dont end up making the team in the winter, will the standards for my performance be raised from before if i come out again sophmore year? i love to run, and being put back by this sucked miserably, but running on a collegiate level is something ive always dreamed of doing and i just want to know how much of a chance i have of doing so. any advice would help, thanks.
