The unanswered question from Tokyo- What the heck was on million $ marathoner Yuta Shitara's arm the final 2k of the race?

Sponsor's logo or something? Seems like he would be getting paid to wear something that ugly.

There was a thread on this yesterday. It appears to be a cartoon of Shitara running with the words "Last Fight".

The real unanswered question is why did the folks at the finish line keep the tape up for all the finishers? I only saw the first eight finishers but, for each one, they re-strung the tape. Anyone know why? Did they do it for top ten? For everyone? Weird.

because the number 8 is considered lucky in Japan. Finishing in the top 8 is equivalent to finishing on the podium in usa/europe etc.
