Im a sophomore runner on the collegiate Level. Ive been putting in about 50 mpw throughout the season with 3 workouts usually a vo2 max intervals, speed session, and long run. I was coming off 3 very strong workouts that indicated what I thought was in shape to score and maybe even win conferences 1k ( at least a 2:36) depending on who ran.
Workout #1
2x(200-400-200) 1:30 between reps 5 between Set
(29, 58, 28) (29, 62, 31)
Workout #2
(600m. 2x400m, 4x150m) 2 minutes rest
(1:38,) (62, 63) (21,20,20,20)
Workout #3- 4 days out from conference
4x200m 2 minute rest
(27,27,28,28)
I ran 2:43 At conferences at my splits were as followed
(30, 31 high ,34 high ,33 high ,34)
600m In I felt like I couldn't go any faster.
My problem with this time was I ran a 2:43 last year as a freshman coming off a 3:20 1200m leg. I ran the same 1k time this year but I was fresh
Based off these workout what do you think, my time sounds right? should be faster? I missed scoring by 1 second and first place was 2:36 as I thought it would be
