This video is just one of many potentially helpful videos for athletes made for Athletes Connected at UMich:
Religious people are dumber than Atheists.
You have to be in order to believe in fairy-tale nonsense.
Each to his or her own.

What kind of God would He be if he couldn't respond to my reaching out to Him for help in my time of need, whether it's a running injury or as you say, a grave life-threatening injury?
Do your own parents only care for you when you're seriously hurt? Or do they show love and concern for you no matter what?
I'm glad that the living God is faithful to love and care for me, even if a bomb is not exploding nearby,

You're seriously confused.

While it is probably true that on average believers have lower IQs than nonbelievers, it is certainly not the case that every religious person, even a completely sincere believer, is a low-IQ person. I have had professors and classmates who were extraordinarily intelligent--and theists.
As somebody mentioned above, it's not like people can choose to believe or not believe.

I'd say it's pretty clear you just don't get George's point. Those of us who can't be bothered with the silly idea of magical sentient beings find it pretty crass that people thank an invisible power for saving them over others, especially when the matters you are concerned with are so often very minor affairs, while you blithely ignore the abject misery of many others. Religion in those moments really is a form of institutionalized narcissism.
Yeah, about that... wrote:

Can you choose when to brush your teeth or go potty?

I'm good thanks. Go back to your fairy tales.

On the contrary. You're actually the narcissist, because you believe that anything outside of your limited human scope of scientific understanding can't be real. You're like the child who refuses to believe his parents know better than him. Guess what? It's all way bigger than you can grasp! Get over yourself.

My parents had as little interest in adult fairy tales as myself, and we are quite content and good folks. So you see, the trouble with narcissism on such a scale--encompassing the entirety of the three Semitic religions--is that you are so inculcated you have no way to see outside it.
