Super tight men's 800.
800 was a very good race. Sowinski clearly wanted the standard and got out hard and he was the first racer behind the rabbit at 400 (52-mid). Then on the backstraight of the third lap, he felt the rabbit slowing down and went wide to pass and go around him. Probably would have been better for Sowinski if the rabbit had just stepped off once he started slowing.
Anyway, Sowinski led into the homestretch for the penultimate time but Marcin Lewandowski made a hard move just before the bell and seized the lead. It stayed that way until the final turn, when Andrew Osagie came up on the outside and Spain's Saul Ordonez was also there.
Those four crossed in a blanket finish, but Lewandowski was barely able to hold on.
Bummer for Sowinski to come up short of the standard again, though I'm assuming he'll race in Europe one or two more times before USAs in two weeks.
In the women's 1500, Dibaba went hard early on and though Beatrice Chepkoech and Winny Chebet followed for the first few laps, Dibaba pulled away as soon as the rabbit dropped out and destroyed everyone to win easily.
Nice run for Konstanze Klosterhalfen, who didn't follow Dibaba early and was able to roll up Chepkoech and Chebet during the second half of the race.
Hagos Gebrhiwet just roasted the field with a 25.73 final 200 to win the 3k in 7:37.91. That's an amazing performance as it's a super fast close in a super fast race (fastest indoor 3k since 2014). It was also Gebrhiwet's first race since April 2017 since he missed most of last year due to injury.
Yomif Kejelcha kicked really well too but the problem was he was too far back at the bell. Gebrhiwet made a very sudden, hard move to take the lead at the bell and by the time Kejelcha, who was 4th or so at the time, reacted, the gap was too big. Hoping we can get a rematch between these two at World Indoors.

And she was slowed down by the rabbit, who started a bit fast then slowed down to 33s laps. When the rabbit dropped out, Genzebe started stringing 31s laps. She's back to her 'normal' self.
yes, the rabbit was too fast at 400 (61) and then a little too slow (2:07). In any case, everyone further behind had to run their own race because the pace and Dibaba were too far away. Klosterhalfen did a good job, slightly improved her PB, easily beating Chebet and Cichocka by about 5 sec. but missed the German indoor record by about half a second. According to an interview she had not even been aware where that record was standing. She was satisfied with the time this being her first race of the indoor season. German CS is in two weeks, no information yet if she will start at the WC in Birmingham.
Dibaba looks like her old pre-raid self.
