I think the "behind enemy lines" statement is a bit tongue in check. The podcaster is very sarcastic. However, he is a bit bitter toward the church. I don't agree with all of what he says in his podcasts. However, I do think he brings up issues and examples that are generally corroborated by LDS sources.
When I first began questioning the church, I researched mainly LDS sources. The church's essay were huge in my transition. They basically validated that some of the issues that I assumed were anti-Mormon lies, were actual truth.
John Dehlin's podcasts Mormonstories are helpful. He did the podcasts for many years as a member of the church. Episode 400 brings to light a lot of issues that I dealt with in my faith transition.
It's absolutely tongue in cheek, but it still highlights where the author stands.
I read most of the transcript. Nothing too shocking, but then nothing all that helpful either. He makes a reasoned argument, but it seems much ado about nothing to me. I don't think Ballard is trying to mislead anyone, I think he's just a little too caught up in making absolute statements. I think the leaders of the church are generally honest people, though imperfect. It's just when their imperfections mislead the church that I can't seem to get past.....
