Hi all, I'm a club athlete for my school who's home on break. I recently ran a 4:30 mile just after coming home for break but I don't really know how I'm gonna maintain or speed that time up without access to an indoor track for speed intervals? Any suggestions? I'm from the Northeast so conditions won't be very ideal for me haha
You can maintain and even gain fitness through thr winter without the use of a track. Indoor examples are treadmill, bike, elliptical, or rowing machine.
Outdoor, you can measure out a distance on the road and do repeats. If the ground is snowed out, maybe you can find somewhere under a highway or overpass of at least something like 100m of distance and do repays back and forth. Hill sprints as well will improve your fitness while not endangering injury from the cold. Just gotta think openly about your alternatives. If you really want to succeed, the weather won't be an excuse.
