Several years ago I heard about a possible cause for chronic muscle injury, namely that the opposing muscle was weak and that forced the other muscle to overcompensate and eventually become injured. This was in regards to lower back back pain (weak abs forced the lower back muscles to work harder in order to maintain stability, eventually leading to lower back problems). Focusing on the opposing muscle (abs) solved the problem whereas a focus on the lower back wouldn't help much. This appears to make sense to me, and I am wondering if it can be applied elsewhere.
I am curious if anyone has had an experience similar to that above, but not abs/back. For example, weak hamstring leads to quad injury, weak abductor creates adductor problem, etc.
