I dont think any major city is "close" to Pittsburgh. DC is 4 hours away on a good day, Philly is 5, and NYC is 6. You can live in NJ if that matters to you.
But yeah tbh I had no idea how bad the pollution was until last summer. It's like the steel mills never left.
