Knight stayed close enough to the NAU guys to unleash his kick in the final minute to get the win.

After the race, he said he wasn't even feeling good today and at his best today.
"I feel fantastic, "said Knight to flotrack after the race. "My name is now up there with the greats. My parents came out to see me, whenever they come out I have a great race."
"It was my first time racing the Allabama guys so I didn't know what was going to happen. I knew the NAU guys were serious, serious guys."
He added that he was cramping up 4k in but had to "suck it up".
"To be honest, I don't know how much I had left (at the end) as I was little off and cramping up."

Justin Knight celebrated the whole last 100 meters like a total dbag. I was kind of hoping he'd trip.
-
Tough race and a long 4 year wait to win, give the guy a little room to celebrate.

God forbid someone celebrating and showing excitement about the biggest accomplishment of their life.
YOU ARE A JOKE -
First North American born winner since Rupp.
I guess that the US will have to wait at least another year -

He ran at the world championships last summer, remember? And he was just celebrating, he was about one step up on Baxter throwing signs up right in his face. It's was kind of crappy. Good for him, he definitely deserves a title but jesus. -
Tyler Day made history too! "No one can beat Syracuse with 9:28 hs 2 milers." ;-)

Just say second Canadian and stop being racist af

Celebrate after the race and in a way and location that aren't disrespectful to the other runners. Great achievement, but that never justifies celebrating before the race is over.

More than a couple people on this thread that are sour a Canadian won. :)
Don't even try to act like that has nothing to do with it. GO CANADA. :) -
Nothing in the post has to do with his Nationality. Celebrate after and stay classy.

Just say Canadian. Immigration is a fact of life. In many cases these are people who were already elite runners and did not immigrate just to run. The emphasis on birthplace is getting out of hand.

No, it's not. End of story, debate is over. Bye Felicia. -
not already elite runners

Exactly... what difference would it have made if Simon Bairu's parents had popped him out in Saskatchewan? None. He'd still have been an Eritrean-Canadian who grew up in Saskatchewan (very not ideal place to become a runner). Same with Moh Ahmed. The birth place of these athletes had zero effect on their success, especially because neither of them were even running before they came to Canada. One could argue that having east African genetics helps, but this has nothing to do with their place of birth.
Ironic, because Justyn Knight's mom is an immigrant.... if he'd been born in the Caribbean, would y'all be writing him off? I guess so...
Anyways... congrats Justyn, well deserved. Canada is proud of you. -

Racist?
So by pointing out that this black Canadian NCAA champ was born in Canada and the other black Canadian NCAA champ (Simon Bairu) wasn't born in Canada, somehow we're being racist?
Can you explain that to me? -

Fisher is Canadian born. Not American born.
