O'Lionaird is simply a deluded liberal, and has never worked a real job in his life. He's managed to walk into a job with Nike off the back of a sub-standard running career and an even more sub-standard education subsidised through a scholarship provided through the success of an ACC football power. This is after walking away from a Michigan education.
Yet the man promotes totally deluded views on immigration etc, elevated through the illusion of social status and interpreted education, whilst at the same time presumably gaining his political views through the political and media rhetoric promoted from geographical location of which he resides. This narrative comes from a man who tries to make going to a concert seem like an educational journey....see his instagram posts on the Burning Man.
At the end of the day Mr. O'Lionaird you signed up to anti-drug testing. If you cannot adhere to the rules of this testing then you theoretically do not promote drug free sport. The simple fact is, you are perfectly able to resume your athletic career, and thus able in turn to partake in the use of performance enhancing drugs. I liken the case of Christian Hesch, who won thousands of dollars on the national and Californian road race scene whilst using EPO to your attention. With your talent level, which cannot be questioned, you could easily string a few months of training together whilst working a full time job and subsequently win races worth a couple of thousand of dollars, thus subsidising your income to your obvious advantage. The drug testers, be it USADA or WADA do not have a crystal ball and cannot predict whether you will renegaid on your 'retirement', and thus any attempt to opt out of testing should be seen as futile, and non-negotiable. You dedicated a part of your life to the sport, and agreed to uphold the integrity of the sport through mandatory testing. Accept this deal and fulfill it, then be free to get on with whatever life choices you wish to carry on.
This isnt just about YOU Mr. O'Lionaird, this is about the sport of athletics.
