I'm running my 5th NYC in November and am aiming to break 3. This is the first time I'm treating this as a race (past years I did it more for the challenge/fun without a serious goal).
My half PR is a recent 1:20. I've never gone sub-3 in the full or come close to it, and I reckon I won't be greedy and go for a 2:55, but I definitely feel a comfortable sub-3 is in the cards if I am feeling good on the day, the conditions are decent and I have a good strategy.
That's where you come in LRC! Skip the whole 'conserve your energy' stuff from runner's world and tell me when to run the grades, where to hold back, and what splits I should be aiming for!
And yes, even though I'm familiar with the course, I'm still asking for your course strategies because I've never strategized for time, only for survival.
