I think that we may have to wait an extra year for this to happen. I just don't see it in 2017.
The favorites are Knight, Linkletter and Fisher. None of them fit the criteria.
Which US born American has the highest chance?
Seufer? Trouard? They are running well, but I had never heard about them until this season.
The last US born American to win NCAA is Galen Rupp in 2008. Who can be the one in 2017?

Knight, Linkletter, and Fisher weren't born in the US?

I knew Knight went to HS in Canada, but had no clue Linkletter and Fisher were born in Canada. Both went to HS in the US, though. -

?
No, both FIsher and Linkletter were born in Alberta. Knight was born in Ontario.
Knight only moved to the US for College.
LInkletter and FIsher went to HS in the US. The only difference between LInkletter and FIsher is that LInkletter will be at the 2019 world championship (representing Canada) and FIsher will not. -

US born seems to be a thing. Look at the headline when Rupp won Chicago.
For sure not, FIsher is as American as LInkletter. Or alternatively, LInkletter is as Canadian as FIsher. Which ever country they decide to represent is their decision. -
Umm, wtf are you talking about?...Grant Fisher is white.

Fisher's Mother is from the USA. They lived for a brief time in Calgary Alberta, where Fisher was born.
Fisher moved to Michigan before he was three years old.
What is the big deal. Some People from the USA have kids in different countries when they live and work outside the USA.
Fisher is "US born American" and will be the first such to win NCAA cross since Galen Rupp.
Cheer the kid on. He has represented the USA at two age group world track and field championships. He has been awarded two NCAA scholar athlete of the year awards. He was the first underclassman to win NCAA 5,000m in something like 28 years. He won two back to back Footlocker XCchampionships as well as two Gatorade XC national athlete of the year awards. He interviews incredibly well and is majoring in electrical engineering at Stanford.
America should claim this kid every day of every week. -
Clayton Young will UPSET and win Nattys. Mark my words.

Since Fisher was born in Calgary, Alberta, he is unfortunately not US born. He does have dual citizenship, so he is free to represent the US or Canada. He has chosen to represent the US, which is a personal decision.
So no, he will not be the next US born American to win NCAA XC. -

Grant Fisher, you represent the USA well. The running community is 100% supportive of you. -

I assume you are talking about men only?

In order to be American enough for Letsrun, you have to be born waving an American flag and singing to the National Anthem three times a day.

Except that he isn’t. -
Just curious why it matters to letsrun posters whether or not an american citizen was born here or not. The only "Americans" in that regard are native americans if you guys really want to be that technical. NCAA is for college athletes from anywhere not just americans. Fisher is canadian born but you could say that he is north american born

The Native Americans are just a bunch of Russian immigrants. And the Russians themselves are just as bunch of African immigrants. So really we’re all Africans, the one true race. -
If Fisher wins this year and when he wins next year I'm not going to think oh a Canadian won I'm going see it as an American who won, he may not be US born but I care more about an American winning than a Kenyan or Ethiopian, who's just going to college in the US

What about
Karissa Schweizer
Molly Seidel
Abbey D'Agostino
Angela Bizzarri -
With how the past ten years have gone, I think us Americans should settle for an American citizen winning regardless of where they were born as a victory.
