I wonder if today is the pinnacle of Alberto's career as a coach and not London 2012.
Alberto started NOP intent on trying to build the next great American marathoner and after some stops and starts, and controversy along the way, today he hit it out of the park. Alberto appeared to be in tears as he hugged Galen after Galen won the men's race. Then a few minutes later Hasay crossed the line in 2:20:57, #2 American ever.
Galen is now 4 for 4 in his marathons and Hasay 2 for 2. Alberto appears to have figured out the marathon as a coach.
Alberto Salazar at the top of the marathoning world: Galen wins Chicago, Hasay runs 2:20:57

But I read here on many occasions that the hammer was coming down hard, and soon! By people who claimed to know. Now years have gone by and nothing other than allegations of being in the grey area. Would the posters making those claims care to explain how wrong they were?
And I don't mean repeat the same unfounded claims. I mean explain why their claimed knowledge of what was going to happen turned out to be a jike,
And before you start, I am in now way affiliated with Nike. Just a guy wondering what it's like to be so sure about something, and yet so wrong. -
Big deal...
He's not the first American runner to win Chicago. Khalid Khannouchi did as well. -
Both years are impressive, but it's really impressive how smoothly Salazar has transitioned Jordan and Galen to the marathon.
Jordan is unbelievable! -
Jordan is unbelievably toned. Great things ahead!
-
Am I the only one suspicious of these two great Al Sal coached athlete performances? I didn't see the race - did it end up being somewhat warm, or were conditions better than expected?
-
Wish the hammer would come down on Dibaba. I think she could have run 2:13, she won and was barely breathing, smiling. Her coach was found with a SUITCASE FULL OF EPO a their training camp, and NOTHING was ever done about it.
-
If you speak about Jama Aden, sorry to inform you that NEVER he was the coach of Tirunesh Dibaba, coached in Ethiopia by Haji.
Sometimes, before writing some stupidity it's better to try to know facts and situations, instead following stories coming from the belly of some pseudo journalist approaching athletics once every two years. -

Have you heard something new from that case with Aden? -

Not so impressive so far with Galen except the medal in OG. A weak field in
Chicago and not so impressive transition with a sub 27 at 10000 . So far only 2.09.20 -
Is Alberto the coach of Hasay, or is she coached by someone else within the NOP? Because I didn't see Alberto congratulating Hasay after she finished.
-
At the top of the marathoning world? Is this a joke? Hasay was 2:26 behind the winner and :35 behind second place.
Rupp won with the 4th slowest winning time in the past 20 years. It is the smallest margin of victory over the female champion in the history of the event dating back to 1977.
London 2012 was and will always be the pinnacle of his coaching career, unless conclusive evidence proves it was a farce. -
Granted, Mr. Salazar has figured out the marathon as a coach but he also must have had it figured out as a marathon participant. He was riding high for 3 years.

Whether Salazar has figured out the marathon remains to be seen. I'd say that he should be able to coach multiple runners to big performances. What is clear is that he has done a brilliant job with Rupp over the years. -
Wejo--I think you hit the nail on the head. Salazar now seems to have the marathon figured out. My guess is that we'll never find out, but it would be interesting to know if he thinks he's learned anything about coaching the marathon, and, if so, what exactly.

Why did letsrun.com underestimate Jordan ability to run fast today?
You completely missed on your analysis of her ability to run fast.
Can and will you publicly admit it?
BTW, her time was the fastest ever run on american soil by an american woman. -

Please follow the sport. -
I was at Boston in wave one and both Alberto and Jordan walked past me. It sure looked like she was being coached by him.
Also there was that picture of them hugging after Boston. -

What are you talking about? We didn't miss anything about Jordan in our analysis. We just pointed out a fact that plenty of people don't improve on their debut time and that nothing in her career indicated she'd be this good of a marathoner.
We never said she wouldn't run well.
