The problem with old people who remember what happened 30-40 years ago is that they often live in the past. I know, I'm one of them and have been a Hog fan since the early 80's and yes, they have the most incredible record in running cc/t&f of any University. Don't believe it? Just go stand in front of their trophy case at their indoor facility, take in the Tyson Indoor meet and go check out one of two IAAF certified outdoor facilities in the country.
Coach M. Hand picked Coach Bucknam. He has consistently brought home SEC Championships and national trophies albeit not all gold. That are still one of the most respected programs for what they are currently doing against an overall better field of competition than what was available in the 80s and 90s. Coach M showed other coaches what was possible with 12 scholarships. Distance guys and jumpers with a few sprinters thrown in. Coach B and his awesome staff are accomplishing a lot with a more diverse program. They had some bad luck the last couple years at NCAA track it probably would have pulled out victories but that happens to others as well. Just part of the game.
Florida, Texas AM, Oregon, Arkansas and who else consistently challenge in track and field every year? LSU? Cross Country:. Oregon, Colorado, Arkansas, Stanford, Wisconsin? Most people are just now noticing NAU but they've taken home several trophies since 87 and are always good.
So which school is still repeated most in both T&F/CC on the same 12+ scholarships? Always in the picture in both?
One: Arkansas!!!! Go Hogs! Soo Pig!!!
