oops.
oops.
James Jett went to WVU
Desmond Howard (91 Heisman winner, 98 Super Bowl MVP, currently KR for the Detroit Lions) ran indoor track for a season at UM. I believe he placed at the Big Ten in the 55m. Too many other committments (NFL Draft, etc.) kept him from running outdoors, however.
He isnt a pro athlete, but he is a celebrity. I heard that dana carvey ran track in hs and he was pretty good. Just wondering if anyone knew if this rumor was true.
i'm pretty sure that bernie williams qualified for the world junior champs in the 400 when he was a teenager in puerto rico, i know that's not olympic but that's still pretty damn fast.
while not a track athlete, i know that tom glavine (pitcher for the atlanta braves) was drafted something like 63rd in the nhl draft the same year as mario lemiux (but i spelled that wrong).
- Garth Brooks threw the Jav for OSU
- Ron Brown who was 4th in the \'84 Olympic 200m returned kicks for the Rams
- Back in the 70\'s the As had a guy name Washington who at the time held a few indoor sprinting records. He played in over 100 games without ever picking up a bat. He was used primarily as a pinch runner
- Renaldo Skeets Neiamiah(sp) 49ers
- Willie Gault Bears
- Lee Mayes UTEP Sprinter is in the Steeler Camp right now
Frank Shorter played LB for the Bears in the 60\'s under the Butkis
Qadry Ismail (Green Bay) was a PA state champ in the 110 Hurdles with 14.02.
Herman Moore (Detroit Lions) was the ACC champ in the high jump several times.
Did Tiger Woods ever run? Seems I heard a quote from his dad once that if Tiger didn't play golf, he'd have been able to beat MJ at the 400.
The quote from Tiger's dad was (shortly after Johnson's :43.18), "If Tiger continued running the 400, he'd be running sub :43 right now." Johnson replied, "That may be true, but if tiger was running :43, I'd be running :41."
We're missing a good one. Michael Bates. Wasn't Michael a bronze medalist (Olympics or WC) in the 200. I know it was from lane #1 as well. Does nayone recall the year.
Just the facts wrote:The quote from Tiger's dad was (shortly after Johnson's :43.18), "If Tiger continued running the 400, he'd be running sub :43 right now." Johnson replied, "That may be true, but if tiger was running :43, I'd be running :41."
That was it; thanks. Any idea what Tiger ever ran for 400?
All I know is that they kept saying that about him during one of the many recent World Series the Yankees were in. Certainly they could have been wrong, because non-track people don't know the difference between 45 seconds for 400M and 55 seconds, but that's what they said. They gave an exact time which was 45.something. I just don't remember the .something part.
