I had my first xc meet last weekend and I was excited to do well after putting in a big summer of consistent training (peak 60 mpw).
So I get to the race and end up running like shit. I ran the slowest time I had in like 2 years. I was upset, but not too worried at first because maybe it was just a bad race.
However, in the next race, a teammate of mine who I should be absolutely destroying beat my by over 10 seconds. He barely ran over the summer and also smokes a shit ton of cigarettes and does a lot of drugs. He literally told me he snorted cocaine and smoked cigarettes the night before the race.
Why am I getting beat by people like this??
