I meant for the point to be that he should continue to run for enjoyment and fitness, but that he just isn't talented with regard to distance running (that is just a fair observation and not a put down...not his fault that he doesn't have the talent). Just gradually increase milage 10% and run fast on hard days, sprint, do strides, do strength and conditioning and plyometrics. Take easy days easy
