Going onto the home stretch, Chelimo and 2 Ethiopians had Farah boxed in! Instead, the Ethiopian moves to lane 2 to try and block Chelimo, allowing Farah on the inside easily.
What the heck. Glad Farah didn't win, but he should NOT have medaled.
Discus.
Mo Farah should NOT have medaled

yeah, both ethiopians did solid blocks on chelimo and opened the door for Mo. Chelimo would have got silver forsure. He hit 300m and took off, incredible run to get the bronze even with bad positioning at the bell
-
Richard game them to much at the bell. Could not make up the gap.

Did we watch another race? Two Ethiopians running side by side blocking Farah getting past with Chelimo then coming on the outside and blocking Farah in properly? -
That guy is not winning the 1500, get off the crack
-
He most definitely should have medalled. He was the 2nd best guy in the race.
I don't think I've ever seen a distance race in my entire life where a distance runner has stayed boxed for the final 100.
I am glad it opened up for him. I'd hate to have him lose and then peopel say he only lost because he got boxed.
BUt it is a reminder for all young distance runners. DON"T EVER LEAVE LANE 1 if you are leading. NEVER. -
But Farah DID medal, didn't he? Okay, what's next?

It opened up too late. Kjelcha sacrificed himself in the end setting it up perfectly for Edris and Chelimo blocked in Farah. -

True. At about 110m off the final corner I used to go just wide enough in lane one to make people have to go around but still making it impossible to pass inside. Don't hug the rail if you sense someone right on your ass. If they're already on your shoulder don't go wide because it's impeding. -

This note applies to the W steeple as well, right? I mean, Emma might have blasted by anyway, but letting her go by like a rocket inside over the water jump can't have been a good idea. -

+1. I can't understand that steeple. I think Emma would have won even if she had to come around the outside on the bend, but it would have been harder. -
He shouldn't have medaled because he was all out on the backstretch and still somehow had strength to hold off Chelimo at the end.
How did he do that? -
Of course Farah should have medaled, because he did.
He's a great runner, even with making uncharacteristic mistakes, he took away silver.
Emma Coburn passed inside on the final waterjump of the steeple. Jenny Simpson passed on the inside to grab silver in the 1500.
I guess they SHOULD NOT HAVE MEDALED. But it's just so odd! They did medal. -

If my aunt had balls she would be my uncle. -
Exactly my thinking. Somehow Jenny Simpson was also able to sneak through the inside in the women's 1500. How are professional runners not holding the inside lane when they have it. More often than not, one DOESN'T have a clear run on the inside at the end, so I can't believe anyone would give it up when they did get it.

Right?
Medals in the women's 1500 were given away like that, too. -

This is the right comment. Many things happen in races. In this one, he got silver.
