Probably meant the total split time was 13:40 pace, not that lap pace.
they were probably still on pace for 13/40 but just happend to slow down to '71

Obviously this. If they randomly split a 60 they wouldn't say "that's 12:30 pace."
Hmm. Did you see the steeplechase? They called it faster than world record pace when they picked it up in the second half.
I'm surprised he was even awake. Talk about a snooze fest. But that's what men's 1500/5000 "racing" have become. If the men don't go through 800 faster than 1:58 tomorrow, I'm turning it off.
Not sure if it is the same as the in stadium announcer but the in stadium guy has made a million mistakes over the length of the championships
