What happened? Mot on the juice?
Go Kenya!!
🇰🇪
In one of the interviews after the heats, he made it seem like he'd be fine with any medal.
There's a ton of pressure

Wrong! Gutsy race, other guys just ran like daisies!
Jager should've taken off with a lap to go and grabbed the gold! Not devastated by far....
Everyone's on the juice. Even your precious Kenyans.
Kipruto went around him pretty effortlessly. I wonder if Jager pushed the pace too much too early.

Lol! It's big boy time. If you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen, baby!
Brave effort.
To run the world off and then to finish is near impossible.
That's what he had to do to win.
He's tough.
(Now you see why centro's gold medal race was amazing)
His best chance was in 2015.
Eh, Kenya's squad this year was worse than in 2015. This was a good opportunity for Jager

on the contrary he let it crawl far too long. His only advantage is being able to break his opponents, he should have gone fast from the start, not halfway through.
I knew as soon as 2 laps were down that he was beat.

Translation: Kenyas squad in 2015 was even more doped than it is now
Meh, the doper won

I agreed. Jager looks pretty upbeat. I'm going home devastated, though -- I thought he mighta eked out a gold!
Still, props

And your greatest accomplishment?
Mommy potty trained you last year? Congratulations!
This is laughable, at best.
We are saying a guy from the USA is going home devastated with 3rd place in the Steeplechase...The freaking steeplechase...A guy from a country that was an absolute "joke" at the world stage for 30+ years comes in 3rd, winning the first medal for that country at the world championships.
I felt so bad for Jager throughout that race. It was obvious that Kipruto was absolutely toying with him, able to pounce at any time. And that made perfect sense given the semifinal when Kipruto more or less pranced to the finish, eliminating any concerns about his ankle.
The only interesting variable was whether Jager could hang on for silver. Not close. I still respect Jager for obviously being so dedicated and consistent.
I still have no idea how Jager was the betting favorite leading into this competition. You've got to be a rank fool to play into an absurd overreactive price like that. As I wrote in the prediction thread a week or so ago I could only consider Jager if you were still receiving the typical odds assigned to him.
Jager did not not look at all devastated. By the way, this recurring "devastated" motif on LetsRun is way past its "sell by" date and isn't even vaguely amusing at this point. You guys really like belaboring things to death, don't you?
