He's just announced it on Twitter. Sad news.
Wow
Has he been carrying this injury for while?
That solves the Kenyan debacle on the 800 team selection.
That puts Michael Saruni on the team as he should be since he finished third at their trials.
Kenya had two 800m wild cards - Rudisha who didn't run their trials and Fergusen Rotich, who placed 4th at their trails.
Saruni should have been named to the team for placing top 3.
Rotich should have been also named ahead of Rudisiha as he placed higher than Rudisha at their trials.
AK screwed up by not firming their selection rules before the meet.
There is a rumor that an official told Rudsiha that he had the wild card spot automatically but that is not true. It was not publicly announced before the meet.
If a country has two wildcards, the IAAF allows the nation to choose which two.
When selecting a team, you have them race, as they did for the other spots.
(Yes, if it were subjective I would choose Rudisha over any of them)
AK will screw up even more and keep Saruni out.
1. Korir
2. Rotich
3. Brazier
1. Amos
2. Korir
3. Brazier
How strange is it that just a year later, NONE of the three medalists from Rio are even in the world championships? Rudisha, Makh, Murphy, all out for different reasons.

That is strange.
That's also something that happens with the 800.
The exact same thing happened four years ago.
The 2012 800m medals went to Rudisha, Amos and Kitum.
None of them ran at the 2013 World Championships a year later.
They are all out for the same reason- injury. Have you ever trained for the 800?

I don't believe that mighty Makh is really injured-more like taking an off year as he did in 2013. Why else would he miss the entire season with an unspecified "calf injury"?
Murphy probably wouldn't have been injured were it not for his ill-advised atttempt to double at USAs. And the more fundamental reason he isn't running is that he failed to qualify for the US team.
Rudisha had a Kenyan team spot locked up, but has announced a mysterious injury very late in the season. I don't know the context of this injury, nor does anyone here as far as I can tell.
In summary, I view them all differently.
Federations can choose their teams via any procedure they want. Having a wildcard really just means you get one extra entry into the championships (4 instead of 3). Having two wildcards still means you only get 4 entrants. You could still choose both the wildcard winners.

Yes, but Kenya announced that top three at their trials would be on the team.
Then they went back on that promise.
If there were no wildcard, neither Rudisha nor Rotich would have been selected by their rules.
Since there were two wildcard options for one wildcard spot, they should have determined which wildcard would be their pick ahead of time.
If that pick was Rudisha (and it was properly announced) then Rotich should have not been on the team.
If they had to race for the spot, then Rudisha should have never been named to the team.
Saruni earned the spot by racing for it.
I mean, the US is allowed choose their team anyway they want.
So Rupp could have been placed on that 10,000 team if Kenya can pick Rudisha.
Right?
From what I've read Saruni was even included as an alternate, which usually means he's out. Whoever was submitted as the alternate will now be allowed to compete.
In short, you are a moran. You consider Murphy not making the team as more fundamental than the injury.... that kept him from making the team? You have the logical capacity of a 7-year old SJW

Yes, he could have been.I support the US selection process because it is more transparent and fair than any other I can figure out.Kenya has been very inconsistent, but it is their right to do so. But it does hurt their team.

Right?
But the important thing is he finally got a chance to up his mileage.
Ah, so you are "that type" of individual. I'm sorry I ever responded to you, and I'm sorry you exist.
