Paul Wheeler run across America.

This chap claims he is running across America unsupported with this trolley.

The first thing you get when you click on his website is a huge link to GOFUNDME.

So he wants people to pay for this for him.

Naturally, he uses the charity angle to get away from the question why he has no live tracker, and wears no running watch and so updates no evidence/data at all.

We must take his word for it as he's collecting for charideeee.

Has collected TWO GRAND off the public off Gofundme, yet raised NOTHING for charity so far.

Recent posts have seen his posing with the scammer Kyle from the Darren Kavinoky faked "run" (RV ride....) across America. Claims he had no idea Darren faked his trip, and says he ran with Kyle yesterday.

Maybe he really is running it all, but how naive can a person be, doing a trip like this with no evidence.

I really do NOT like the GOFUNDME aspect.

Even if he IS running it, he's not raising any money so far and expects the public to pay for this holiday.

Reminds me of Rob Young. He wanted public donations straight to him too.

This Paul appears a nice enough guy, but then so was Rob Young.

Fraudsters normally are. That's how they scam people so successfully.

Like Rob, he has no job. Lists his profession as "professional daydreamer."

If you want to do a trip like this, pay for it yourself.

He has sponsors too, so probably got gear and funding from them too.

So no live tracker, no Garmin/evidence, wants funding, has sponsors, and banging on about charity, yet has raised no money at all.

This definitely seems fishy. Need a athletic history check on this guy as well as checking his army credentials.

In June, Paul Wheeler will be attempting this awe inspiring feat which he is aiming to complete in 4-5 months. As an ex-army man, Paul understands the sacrifice that goes into achieving. Since leaving the army has tried to control that urge to live a life unscheduled; he brought a house, got the 9-5 but the call of the unknown never dissipated and he eventually relented and began to plan. Unlike Forest Gump itâ€™s not just a case of simply feeling like running the journey takes planning, training and a lot of motivation. I caught up with Paul as his deadline looms to see what it takes to get from San Francisco to New York on nothing but your feet.
What made you decide to run across America?
My initial idea was to run from Landâ€™s End to John Oâ€™Groats but then I thought that if I was going to do something like that then I might as well go bigger and better! I have a friend who is currently in Nepal gearing up for a summit attempt on Everest in May and a few years ago he ran, solo and unsupported, across Australia and he suggested why not run across America? The rest is history.

Not expecting one person to take it on. These are team efforts.

The fact he's collected TWO GRAND from the public for this makes me very suspicious indeed.

He was contacted and asked why he has raised nothing for charity so far and he posted a really long 24 min video on his Facebook page wall.

As far as I'm concerned, if you hang out with Darren Kavinoky or anyone on his team, you are up to no good.

Up until yesterday when I started this thread he had raised NOTHING for charity, as he just didn't care.

He had money flooding into the Gofundme, and that's all he was bothered about.

But after we started to question why he'd raised nothing, I can now announce a grand total of SEVEN people have donated to the charity, Â£171.

Not great, is it.

I don't think he would ever have tried to get any donations had we not questioned him.

what a load of bollocks. how many weeks has this guy been traveling across the US for and he only now bothers to ask for donations to his charity.

strangely enough almost immediately after he's been called out on letsrun

and yet somehow he's managed to raise $2000 for himself via a GoFundMe page and collect a few sponsors along the way.

Probably her who's been doing the rounds to get people to suddenly donate to the charity page so his little go fund me lifestyle jaunt doesn't look to be just a go fund me lifestyle jaunt. Oh yeah, there is the 'to draw attention and highlight' whatever the cause is this time, I can't keep track.

Also, never ceases to amaze me how people get sucked in by these scammers and wax lyrical about them as if somehow they are the latest messiah.

How can people be so gullible?
