Do you all really want a shoe that was billed as being able to go sub 2
Failed at that
and also failed to even break the current record?
Yep well done that seams wise!

Agreed.
I stand by my comment a few pages back. Still haven't seen any breakthrough performances from elites wearing these. For the breaking 2 project, Kipchoge would have been close to 2:00 in trainers with all of the drafting, etc. in that event...
A bunch of the US Nike sponsored athletes have worn some variation of these and I haven't seen any blazing fast times...
Please cite examples, oh ye lovers of Nike
The shoes have not broken any official WRs. This is the biggest thing holding me back.
Release fail? Hardly! They sold out all stock at full retail, more expensive ($250?) than most any other running shoe out there. They may sell out of the next batch too.

I get your point, but the major races where they were worn were not time trials in ideal conditions (except sub 2 of course). Have you seen the comments from Flanagan and Cragg? Yeah, they are paid to wear Nike, but they were not forced to wear these shoes at the trials, yet they did. I'm going to say again, have you personally run in them? If not, then you have no idea if they are faster or not, but I have run in them and can tell you, they are legit and make you more economical. Sure the elites haven't run blazing fast times, but they have put up some solid wins against good competition. Personally, I think had Goucher been a Nike athlete and worn them at the trials, she would have beaten Desi.
Ok, let's assume they ARE that good. How long for the others to respond?
Should I pay $400 and buy they now off the scalpers? I'd rather not, but I don't want to be like Goucher getting beat by technology versus fitness.
Don't waste your money. They may be 4% better for the marathon. They are not worth 300%+ thecost of rival shoes.
I ran 9 miles at a 6:53 pace today, despite it being 30+ degrees warmer than the 7 miles I ran at a 6:48 pace last month. This is astonishing to me, since I went into this run dehydrated and hungry.
My HR was around 165 on average, vs. around 159 last month. Again, huge difference... compare to an 8-mile tempo last week, almost entirely downhill (in quite cooler temps, 70 degrees) when my HR averaged 169bpm.
Today should've been a super miserable run by all accounts. It wasn't. There were times when my foot turnover was almost more rapid than I could keep up with -- the stiff responsiveness and rebound of the shoe is real.
This is also perhaps the best ventilated shoe I've ever worn. In this weather, my shoes have been completely saturated by 6 miles on every run - these shoes held up over 10 miles. (I still need a better race day solution but goodness I hope its under 65 degrees for my marathon.)
I felt like the cushion over 9 miles was fine - other racing shoes (my current go-to has been Hoka One One Tracer) seem like the 13.1 mile mark is the upper limit. I am pretty confident these will hold up well over a 25km race, and probably pretty well over 26.2mi.
I'm totally on-board with the Vaporfly. I was prepared to not believe any of the hype, certainly. (Part of why you order via Runningwarehouse is no questions returns!) And this is not a "magic shoe", but my legs feel better than they should, and my run went so much better than it should've. I'm not sure it's worth an extra 40% more than any other running shoe...? That would depend upon your personal finances and willingness to pay for an extra edge... But I'm pretty sure it's the best running shoe for racing I've put on.
Disclaimer: I've never worn an Adidas Boost.
I got mine yesterday in the mail, and took them out last night. For once, the hype is appropriate. I'm looking this morning to order another pair.
Talked to my buddy.
Nike spent $12-14 million USD producing/prepping for sub-2hr... meant to capitalize on sales of 4%.
They had product and capacity issues, only put out 5000 pairs.
Imagine if Phil Knight was still in charge. $12M for less than $1M in sales!! Mark Parker is pissed as well. He wanted 100k units produced and swoosh couldn't deliver and now the market has moved on.

While those numbers actually wouldn't surprise me (if not more spent on the entire breaking2 project) I am quite surprised Nike has had production issue of the shoes. I got my hands on a pair but it was the last one the nike store in town had in stock.
Anyone have a link to other sales stats? I am sure other product sales had to have increased for the sole fact of individuals trying out nike shorts, shirts, etc. after watching breaking2. It did have general public audience.
If the could only launch 5k that means each store/online would only have 1 pair each. Sorry doesn't add up. Plus no one would launch if they had 5k to launch unless its limited like yeezys
If they cost $35, I might buy a pair.

Some stores got none. Zilcho.
That's not how supply chain and launches work

How do they work? I have money burning a hole in my pocket, but I can't buy the shoe. How is that good for business? Do they make money selling nothing?
You have a runner who went from 2:42 at New York to bronze medalist on not just better training, but also this shoe. They make no mistake in their comments about how good it is. I want to try it. When's the next shipment?
I could be wrong but I think the shoes will benefit slower runners even more. The elites already have near perfect form to go with light bouncy strides. I think Vaporfly's stiffness will open up the stride for hobby joggers while the x-foam will help reduce the pounding on the legs.
Here is my question. Isn't this borderline cheating? Maybe over the line. I have tried to Zoomfly and I can already feel the propulsion on it. The shoes is for real but that PR really will belong to the shoes. That is the only thing that bothers me.
Does anyone know when this show is available again. They took it off the Nike site today????

It's probably off the site by default - they only had one size as of early this morning (I check before I go to work) and they probably sold out. So my thinking is that when the inventory for the shoe hits zero, it's pulled from the site.
It's all about waiting at this point. And Nike can crank these shoes out, but there's something to be said about constraining the supply on purpose to build up demand.
I finally got a pair from Jackrabbit! This is after Fleet Feet Sports and Nike.com had accepted in stock orders and then cancelled me later saying they did not actually have it in stock.
How are they ?
