Approach expository writing as a skill that can be learned. It becomes a discipline that can be quite complementary to your technical mastery of the subject material. Keep your sentences short. Use the active voice. Minimize the use of adjectives. Don't fear your editor. Find a good short book on the subject. Strunk and White wrote one. Try that, or another of your choice that focuses more narrowly on technical writing.
