I think that it would be a good idea to compile a list of french companies and french goods. I'll start.

Since the impending war is over Saddam's threat to Israel above all else, would it be logical to boycott Jewish owned companies?

You used the word "boycott", not I.
I only want to make a list.
Exxon
Chevron
BP
Shell
Haliburton
Bechtel
Boeing
Raylethon
GE
Heres a good reason for a boycott, Israel is routinely driving bull dozers into the occupied territories to destroy the palestinian tomato and olive crop, so that guess what, Israel can monopolise the tomato and olive exports from the area. What are they worried about,, the palestinians throwing tomatoes at their tanks.
I think a boycott on Israeli food exports would make more sense if we are taklking about destruction and opression.
1) 2002 saw the highest amount of agricultural trade from the disputed territories to Israel ever
2) Israel has tried (in a court of law that the rest of the Middle East does not have), convicted, and jailed many who have uprooted olive trees and shipped them back across the line.
3) They really aren't nervous about tomatoes being thrown at their tanks, just nervous about a whole generation of children being indoctrinated into attacking a tiny country with zero natural resources that is barely 30 miles wide. I disagree with the harsh reprisals as you do, but the conflict is quite a bit deeper than just "freedom fighters" versus "oppressors."
this upcoming war is most certainly not about defending Israel
I was so happy to watch a CNN Money story on the TV -- it was about which oil companies would profit the most from the invasion of Iraq and when we should buy their stock to maximize investor profit.
Add wine & croissants to the list.....snails too! Oh, and before I forget, berets! Oops, that wouldn't work. That is the standard hat for the Army these days. Scratch the beret idea. Wouldn't want our troops to go into battle without a proper lid.
Forget that boycott of French imports; is that going to really make a difference? If we're serious about bringing Iraq to their knees, we need to boycott IRAQI goods. So I'm proposing that you..............
Stop driving your cars and walk. You might be using Iraqi oil, and we can't be supporting the enemy, can we?
No public transportation either. If no one takes public transportation or no one drives, we'll really be limiting our use of oil.
Walk, for Christ's sake; you're in good shape. Then we can really hit the Iraqis where it hurts most.
One of the largest publishing and media concerns in the world is Hachette Group, a French multinational. They publish newspapers, magazines, and own radio / TV outlets all over the globe.
Take a guess at who owns a huge stake of shares in Hachette? In fact, if this shareholder and his heirs were destroyed, it could lead to short term problems and disarray for the stock.
That's right! Saddam Hussein.
(And we all thought the French were being altruistic.)
I don't care if they are being stupid again and have forgatten that we had to bail them out in the two big ones last century, there is still nobody in the world who can make as good a bottle of red wine.
What about half the people in america who oppose the war? We should find out what they're selling and start boycotting it now? What about those people who oppose the war standing on the starting line next to us - we should refuse to race if they are in it? We need to start quizzing everyone and find out their opinion and if they aren't with us then they should be deported. Why not abandon any elections in future and elect Bush our permanent dictator. There should never be opinions voiced that don't agree with the right wing texan hardliners.
Patriot:
You are not a patriot if you do not respect the rights of everyone in the world to protest against this stupid idea of a war, or for the right of other sovriegn nations not to cooperate with it.
Why not Boycott the London Marathon since the Mayor of London joined the protestors in London? STUPID SHIT.

Funny, if we're going back over 50 years, why not go back over 200 years...
I'm adding to the list:
French Roast Coffee
French bread
NOT French Kissing
Gotta disagree on the wine thing. I know this is a matter of taste, but my wife and I prefer Chilean, Italian and Australian reds over French wine. So I'll be continuing by boycott of French red wine.
Heeyyyyyy. Wait a minute. I'm on the other side....
Nope, thought about it for a minute there - still not gonna buy French wine.
I was given this list of companies that do not import oil;
Citgo
Sunoco
Conoco
Sinclair
BP/Phillips
Hess
Time to put up or shut up.
Conoco is the only one around here. Thanks
Guess, I will be stopping by Conoco today.
